Bio

Originally from Kalamazoo, MI - Nick DeKoff moved back to West Michigan after a 12 years working as a touring musician in Nashville. One of the original founders and frontmen of the country rock music duo the Mulch Brothers - Nick toured with the band for 10 years opening for acts such as Bon Jovi, Big & Rich, Keith Anderson, Gary Nichols, Lee Ann Womack, Eric Church, Jewel and Craig Morgan while playing regularly at venues such as the Beer Barrel Saloon (Put-in-Bay, OH), Country Club (Augusta, GA), Hogs Breath Saloon (Key West, FL), the Hangout (Gulf Shores, AL) and the Sundance Saloon (Waukegan, IL). Notable shows for the band include playing before the NASCAR Bristol Motor Speedway night race (2010), playing the Hangout during the inaugural Hangout Beach Festival (2010) and being one of Sprint’s featured artists during the CMA Music Festival (2008-2011).  

 

The Mulch Brothers first self-released single “Love Run Wild” was featured in regular rotation on Sirius/XM Radio’s Prime Country station from 2009-2010. 

  

Eventually the band signed a record and publishing deal to the Savannah Music Group in 2010. Their first single with the label “Lucky You” received significant regional radio airplay across the county. The song was also featured in the Lifetime Original Movie “12 Men of Christmas.” 

  

Nick left the Mulch Brothers in 2012 and toured the country with Nashville recording artist Nick Sturms as background vocals, acoustic rhythm and tour manager. Opening for acts Lynyrd Skynyrd, Montgomery Gentry, Trace Adkins, Eric Pasley, Frankie Ballard and Big and Rich among many others, Nick performed at several large venues and festivals including the Country Thunder Music Festival (West Bend, WI), Joe’s Pub (Chicago, IL), Providence Medical Center Amphitheater (Providence, RI) and the Trace Adkins/Wynona Judd “Country Cruising” show on Norwegian Cruise Lines. 

  

Outside of co-writing music for the Mulch Brothers, Nick has also had success as a songwriter with several cuts by other artists and placements in film and television. Most significantly, Nick co-wrote the song hit single “Steal You Away” performed by the Randy Rogers Band. The song was also featured in the movie Country Strong featuring Gwenyth Paltrow and Tim McGraw. His song "Knee Deep In It" was featured in the national advertising campaign for the Farm Boy Clothing line. Nick was also a co-writer on the song “Straight to the Heart” featured in advertising campaigns for the insurance company Connecticare. 

  

Nick had taken a bit of a hiatus from touring the past few years as he has enjoyed being a father to his 2 beautiful children. Nick is now looking forward to getting back on stage and booking new dates locally in Michigan and all across the country.
